2019 was the Choir’s 50th anniversary year, and the end is fast approaching. We are now looking forward to 2020.
Our September anniversary concert featuring Karl Jenkins’ Symphonic Adiemus in which we were accompanied by the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra at HOTA, was a huge success. Judging by their response after the concert, the audience of 576 thoroughly enjoyed the music. This was the largest audience ever for the choir, and almost filled the downstairs section of the main auditorium.
We are now in the early stages of planning our programme for 2020. For our Easter concert in
April, we will be presenting a selection of music by John Rutter, a contemporary English composer known especially for his sacred choral works. His music can be challenging to learn but so beautiful to perform, and well worth the effort.
As a contrast, later in the year there will be a concert of lighter choral pieces, featuring a touch of humour with some “nonsense” songs. Old Mother Hubbard in four-part harmony is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.
The Choir will recommence on Tuesday 21st January 2020 at 7:00pm, rehearsing at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 4 Tarrant Drive, Mudgeeraba.
If you love to sing and think you may like to join, come along and meet us!
